A traversing actuator that carries the QN-100 NIR sensor across the width of a moving web, building a live cross-direction profile of moisture or coatweight on paper, board, and steel coil lines.
A fixed sensor tells you what is happening at one position on the line. The QA-110 tells you what is happening across it. The QN-100 sensor head mounts on the QA-110 carriage, which scans back and forth across the web while the sensor measures continuously, giving a complete cross-direction profile of the product.
Each QA-110 is configured to measure either moisture or coatweight. The system finds the edges of the web automatically, so the profile always covers the product itself and not the gaps either side, even when the web width or position changes. Profiles are displayed live on the sensor HMI and in NIR Explorer on a PC, making streaks, wet edges, and uneven coating easy to spot.
The QA-110 turns the QN-100 into a scanning gauge. Every pass across the web produces a fresh profile.
The QA-110 carriage moves the QN-100 back and forth across the web on a rigid beam.
Web edges are detected automatically on every scan, so the profile follows changes in web width and position.
The QN-100 measures moisture or coatweight continuously and without contact as it crosses the product.
Each pass is plotted as a cross-direction profile on the HMI and in NIR Explorer.
The QA-110 uses the same proven NIR sensor as our fixed-point installations, so calibration, software, and support are shared across both.
See the whole web rather than one spot. Cross-direction variation that a fixed sensor would miss becomes visible on every scan.
The system finds the edges of the web by itself. No manual setting of scan limits when the product width or line position changes.
Configured for moisture profiling on paper and board, or coatweight profiling on coated webs such as steel coil.
The sensor touchscreen shows the live profile alongside the average reading, so operators can see the state of the web at the line.
View profiles on a PC with NIR Explorer, our free desktop software, for monitoring away from the machine.
Nothing touches the product, so there is no marking, no wear on the web, and no risk of contaminating the surface.
Moisture profiles after the dryer section and before the reel help identify wet streaks, uneven drying, and edge effects that cause curl and runnability problems.
Coatweight profiles across coated steel strip show whether the coating is applied evenly from edge to edge.
